  Software updater doesn’t update, missing privileges

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  When I start "Software Updater" from the Dash it gives this error
  message before checking for updates:

  "You are not allowed to perform this action
  You do not have the required privileges to perform this action."

  I am not asked for a password.

  I can start it with "sudo update-manager" from the Terminal and
  everything works as ususal.
