You seem to be trying to do a bios mode install, but you booted the
installer in uefi mode. You need to boot the cd in bios mode to do a
bios mode install.

** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
  installer crashed cause grub failed to install on sdb1; same issue
  installing on sdb

Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I have had issues installing ubuntu 13.10 on sda next to windows 8. Now I have reinstalled windows 8 on sda and want to install ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)) on sdb. All seems OK, until grub-install fails to install on sdb; retried installing bootmanager on sdb1 (this crash report).
  I really need linux, because I can't get used to windows 8...
