Title:
karmic beta installer fails with raid disks present
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
When trying the karmic beta installing to a regular disk, but with a fake-raid disk present (not being installed to) the installer drops into initramfs with the messages
cp: cannot create '/root/var/log/': No such file or directory.
....
Screenshot is attached.
If raid drive is not present the install proceeds fine. It is then
possible to reboot into 9.10 with the raid attached. Also dmraid sees
the raid drive fine. The motherboard is a GigaByte EP45-DS3R with
ICH10R raid. The system drive is a plain drive, the raid drive is set
for raid 1 (mirroring).
This is not critical as there is a workaround - remove the raid,
install and then reattach the raid. But, it is not obvious this is the
problem when the install fails.
Thanks,
Richard
