Status changed to 'Won't fix' because the bug fix is too controversial,
since the bug is triggered by Plymouth because of compatibility reasons
with the installed graphics driver. The only possible solution for this
is to connect the computer to a screen that performs aspect ratio
correction itself.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: plymouth

  The version I am using is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS final. This problem is coming from Beta 1 release, whenever I load the Ubuntu CD, it will display the plymouth splash (boot screen) perfectly. But as soon as I install the Ubuntu on my system and NVIDIA graphics installed on it, the resolution changes to 4 bit display.
  As I can see in coding, it ask for window.getresolution() some function, if value =4 then image=ubuntu-logo16.png else image =ubuntu-logo.png.

  So when I install nvidia graphics my resolution changes to 4 bit or
  so. and my boot screen become wider than normal .

  Please suggest the sollution.

  UPDATE:
  Also affects Ubuntu 12.x and 13.x. Plymouth is not displayed properly (no fullscreen):
