  install failed "grub install dummy" failed, fatal error

Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  When attempting to install Ubuntu, I am unable to finish due to
  failure of grub install.  I get error message:

  "grub install dummy failed"  This is a fatal error.

  I have tried several times with variations of how installed, and all
  fail with the same error message.
