I find myself affected by this bug as well.

New installation of 13.10. However I have some old theme files from a
different distro where I ran Gnome 3.8.

  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10 and am regularly uploading software
  updates.

  My recent problem is: 
  I can not type in dash home. The text area is blank and is not editable.
  However, i can still choose symbols with the mouse in dash home and run listed applications.
