Bug description:
When HPLIP is installed the user can choose between two identical
PostScript drivers when installing the HP LaserJet 1200 in a CUPS
client - at least in my case the two identical entries are "HP
LaserJet 1200 Postscript (recommended) (en)". No matter which of those
two entries is chosen the same PPD is installed. This is confusing.
I'm affected by this bug on Debian GNU/Linux (Jessie) and reported this bug downstream:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=717273
It seems to me that the two entries are a result of two lines in the original PostScript PPD file for this printer which I found in /prnt/ps/hp-laserjet_1200-ps.ppd.gz of the current HPLIP tarball (version 3.13.7):
*Product: "(HP LaserJet 1200)"
*Product: "(Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet 1200)"
As I understand it, there should be one "Product"-line per printer
model – in this case both lines refer to one and the same model. I'll
attach the PPD in question.
