This bug was fixed in the package debootstrap - 1.0.40~ubuntu0.4
---------------
debootstrap (1.0.40~ubuntu0.4) precise; urgency=low
* Add (Ubuntu) trusty as a symlink to gutsy. (LP: #1242747)
* Fudge version to trump the version in precise-backports.

Bug description:
[Issue]
Need to be able to use ubuntu-dev-tools/debootstrap to build trusty chroots on older releases.
If the symlink isn't there in /usr/share/debootstrap/scripts/ you get the following error:
Specified release (trusty) not known to debootstrap
[Test Case]
mk-sbuild --name trusty --arch=amd64 --distro=ubuntu trusty
[Regression Potential]
None.
