To install grub on a gpt disk in a bios based computer, you must create
a 1 MB bios_grub partition.

Title:
Grub2 failed to install GPT bootloader 1310

Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Installation from 2013-09_05 amd64 iso failed to install a bootloader on a GPT disk.
  grub-install /dev/sdc works correctly from installed 12.04 and 13.04

Perhaps the installation process has failed to detect a GPT disk and
is attempting to function as it would with MBR format.
