Title:
Kubuntu tried to upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10, failed without useful
  error messages

Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Computer is about 2 months old, no unusual configuration that I can
think of. Factory built with Ubuntu 13.04, I added kubuntu-desktop as
soon as it arrived. Upgrade to 13.10 failed, and I can't see any good
  reason why.
