  Update manager, if its window stays open with the package list
  displayed, should refresh that package list periodically so that it
  remains reasonably up-to-date.  What invariably happens instead is
  that, after a long-postponed update is finally initiated and
  completed, the check for new updates that is started immediately
  afterwards turns up another set of packages to update, which can be
  both unexpected ("didn't I just update?") and require unnecessary
  additional interaction with the user to finish.
