Using alternate installer, when offered the option to do things
manually, I was able to delete the partition back to free-space and then
re-allocate it. (I did this just to check I was not going daft after
many hours of ISO testing!). It is a ubiquity issue and not a partioner
problem.

Title:
In partioner 'select something else' deleteing and adding a partition
  causes crash

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Attemptin a side by side install after using auto-resize (i.e. manual)
Selecting "Something Else" then deleting the partion I wanted to re-
use and returning it to free space. Then selected it and selected it
to be used as "/" (other defaults left as is e.g. ext4...) When I then
selected the swap partition to be used as swap. the installer crashed
with the above attached details. This happened twice on the row; hence
my raising it as a bug.
