So you are saying it works in 13.04, but not in 12.10? Then it has
already been fixed.
** Package changed: util-linux (Ubuntu) => hdparm (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: hdparm (Ubuntu)
Status: Confirmed => Invalid

Title:
fstrim fails with FITRIM ioctl failed: Operation not supported
Status in “hdparm” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
The problem is that `fstrim -v /` fails, and `fstrim -v /home` does not, even though they both reside on the same physical disc.
I did not have this issue on 13.04.
/dev/sda is a SSD drive with TRIM support.
# sudo hdparm -I /dev/sda | grep -i trim
* Data Set Management TRIM supported (limit 8 blocks)
* Deterministic read ZEROs after TRIM
LVM is setup as such:
# sudo pvs
PV VG Fmt Attr PSize PFree
/dev/sda3 goku lvm2 a-- 111.36g 23.47g
# sudo lvs
LV VG Attr LSize Pool Origin Data% Move Log Copy% Convert
fresh_install goku swi-a-s- 10.00g root 24.50
home goku -wi-ao-- 40.00g
root goku owi-aos- 30.00g
swap goku -wi-ao-- 7.89g
/etc/fstab is also attached.
I've also tried mounting goku/fresh_install and running fstrim on its mountpoint, it resulted in the same failure.
Can the problem be that I have a snapshot of goku/root, again, it didn't matter on 13.04, under the same circumstances.
Thanks!
