Intrepid has reached end of life. Do you still have this problem on an
supported release?

Title:
[Jaunty Amd64] mount sometimes refuses to mount an mdadm RAID1 array

Status in “util-linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I recently switched from intrepid AMD64 to Jaunty AMD64 by means of
clean install. After I installed Jaunty, I also recreated my RAID1
array (I had some problems with ext3 on Intrepid, recreating seemed
safer). However, now that I have created the raid array, sometimes
mount simply refuses to mount the md device that mdadm created
  (/dev/md_d0):

  j at Brutus:~$ sudo mount /dev/md_d0
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/md_d0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
         dmesg | tail or so

  j at Brutus:~$ dmesg | tail
  [37105.234062] sd 10:0:0:0: [sdd] 1953525168 512-byte hardware sectors: (1.00 TB/931 GiB)
[37105.234687] sd 10:0:0:0: [sdd] Write Protect is off
  [37105.234689] sd 10:0:0:0: [sdd] Mode Sense: 2d 08 00 00
[37105.234691] sd 10:0:0:0: [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through
  [37105.234694] sdd: sdd1
[37105.261184] sd 10:0:0:0: [sdd] Attached SCSI disk
  [37105.261247] sd 10:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg5 type 0
[50040.638569] EXT4-fs: unable to read superblock
[50045.037962] EXT4-fs: unable to read superblock
[50409.161949] EXT3-fs: unable to read superblock

The weird thing is, while sometimes it simply refuses to mount it
(happens right after a reboot), at other times after a reboot it
*does* mount successfully. The RAID1 array consists of 2 Samsung
Spinpoint F1's, 1TB each, and each formatted in Ext3.
