Public bug reported:

The normal service upgrade today, on 10/4/13, has rendered my nettop, an Acer Veriton N281-G, unusable. I then reloaded Ubuntu 12.04 with no problems. After the reload, the upgrade manager, notifies me that upgrades are available. Of course.
After the upgrade, which would include the updates added today, are loaded, machine is rebooted, screen resolution comes up wrong, very high, asks for login password, and then blank screen, aand monitor flashes, NO SIGNAL. Nettop still powered up, no response. This is the bug, and I know I can reload 12.04 again, but once it tries to update, I know it will go down the tubes again, in this same way.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
