I do disagree -- users should at the very least be TOLD that their
password for their personal device is going to be stored in CLEAR TEXT
in an obscure text file that hangs around after installation. That is a
very severe security risk, albeit quite apart from the original problem
of the installer failure.
btw, further to the error above, my machine was left in a completely
unrecoverable state after this error, all binaries had been deleted so
there was no possible way to boot the machine, and a subsequent run of
the LiveCD USB did not offer to reinstall but only to wipe the drive
clean and start again.

Title:
installer crashes on rescue
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
crash says it cannot remove installation files and gives no option to
ignore or proceed, but considers the error fatal, the only option is
to accept the message; received the same message once or twice more
and then the apport crash reporting.
part of the bug report asks if I want to include the install log but
cautions that my PASSWORD will be in it!!! Is someone smoking crack?
My password is kept in CLEAR TEXT in a log file?? Isn't that just a
bit insane? er ... I mean ... how did this sensitive security
information manage to be included in an installation log? That alone
is a bit of a bug, no?
