Thanks Brian. I thought this bug was about: 'Try to upgrade to ubuntu
13.10 with app manager gui but it gives error on calculate changes' and
not specifically xorg-edgres packages. I've since found that my issue
was caused by an application (grep:i386) which was in a state of "marked
for deletion" even though it did not appear so. The app 'grep:i386'
appears to be required by Lotus Notes. I removed both grep:i386 and
lotus notes from the system and was able to proceed with the
installation. Lot's of helpful information in the distribution upgrade
log file.
