Title:
please update guile-1.8.7+1-3ubuntu1 to 1.8.7+1-3.1 to fix upstream
  bug #441110

Status in “guile-1.8” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Ubuntu version: Lucid Lynx LTS 10.04

guile 1.8 dropped slib support initially due to incompatibilities, but
since 1.8.3 these issues have been resolved. Debian provided an
updated 1.8.7+3.1 package build by Jordi Mallach that added the
guile-1.8.slib package again. Since guile 1.8.8+1-3, the contents of
the guile-1.8-slib package were moved to guile-1.8-libs, but that does
not help Lucid, as Lucid sticks to 1.8.7. Unfortunately this prevents
newer GnuCash-Versions from compiling and running under Lucid. (There
are workarounds by manually creating those files the guile-1.8-slib
package provides, but not for Joe Average, and the packages created in
this way won't run under vanilla Lucid)

The guile-1.8.7+1-3.1-packages can be found here:
  http://snapshot.debian.org/package/guile-1.8/1.8.7%2B1-3.1/

It would be sufficient to add guile-1.8-slib_1.8.7+1-3.1_all.deb to
  the Lucid repository.
