Thank you for taking the time to file this report and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I appreciate the problem you're facing, but it isn't clear to me that
this is a bug, and you haven't provided enough information to pin
anything down. At the moment it seems that you're still investigating,
and I don't think you're likely to get much assistance with this on this
bug tracker.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp will show you recent
updates to the DHCP client. You may also want to consider any kernel
updates you recently applied, in case there has been a regression in
your NIC driver.

If you think there has been a regression in an update, then you should
pin down the version that caused the regression by examining your update
logs and trying downgrades appropriately.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community. This should help get your
questions about debugging your problem to a wider audience.

Marking this bug as Incomplete, to reflect that this bug cannot make
progress without further information.

** Package changed: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) => isc-dhcp (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: isc-dhcp (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete

Title:
  dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received

Status in “isc-dhcp” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I have 14 x Dell c6100 servers running ubuntu 12.04 Lts. Plus  2x
  running ubuntu 10 lts (they work fine). Have been running fine for a
  year. The systems are updated regularly. After a update + reboot they
  fail to get a IP from the DHCP server.

  In the syslog I see that the dhclient dhcpdiscover on eth0 to 255...
  then dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received

  The onboard chip is: Intel 82576
  The DHCP server is also running Ubuntu 12.04 lts.

  Have there been any changes to the dhcp-client that might explain
  this.

  I have tried disabling ufw and apparmor, but still nowhere.
