[Bug 1181859] [NEW] Any plans for native Android MTP access?

MTP is widely used by newer Android devices, and it is a pain to install
it manually. This would be nice to have supported by default and should
be built in the default file browser for Ubuntu.

It should not be so complicated to browse my Android 4.x files (I have a
Droid RAZR M) on my Ubuntu 13.04. I used a work-around by installing
"FTP Server" (by The Olive Tree) on my Android phone, started up that
FTP server capability, then had my Ubuntu use FileZilla to connect to my
Android FTP server using WiFi. I was able to browse and copy the full
directory tree (root '/' and such) of my Android phone, which is great,
but I really wish my Ubuntu 'Files' explorer (v3.6.3) was able natively
access my Android's file structure once I connect my phone via the USB
cable.

Are there any plans by Ubuntu/Canonical to add such a feature? It seems
a bit odd that a linux computer (Ubuntu) cannot fully talk with a linux
phone (Android).
