Public bug reported:

I'm trying to upgrade a raring VM to saucy using apt-get dist-upgrade,
and twice the upgrade has stalled while doing something with rsyslog:

...
Setting up gstreamer1.0-plugins-good:i386 (1.0.7-1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up liblouis-data (2.5.2-1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up liblouis2:i386 (2.5.2-1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up libmpc3:i386 (1.0.1-1) ...
Setting up libsbc1:i386 (1.1-1) ...
Setting up libsmbclient:i386 (2:3.6.14-1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up debconf-i18n (1.5.50ubuntu1) ...
Setting up iputils-ping (3:20121221-1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up less (458-1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up net-tools (1.60-25ubuntu1) ...
Setting up rsyslog (5.8.11-2ubuntu3) ...
Skipping profile in /etc/apparmor.d/disable: usr.sbin.rsyslogd
rsyslog stop/waiting

("twice", because I threw away changes and started from the same
snapshot again..)

Here are all the processes on the machine that are still running at this
point, but started after the upgrade:

I cannot strace the 7103 process, permission denied (regardless of yama
settings). Sending it SIGCONT and SIGTTIN did not unblock it. Killing
it allowed the upgrade to finish without

My amd64 raring -> saucy upgrade worked fine, but my raring amd64 vm was
probably more updated than my raring i386 vm.
