For quite some time I'm struggling with an issue with apt-get. I cannot install (update or remove) any packages using apt-get. Every time i try to do so, apt-get tells me to do:
> apt-get -f install
which i do but this doesn't help. I get the same error
> post-removal script returned error code (1)
> dpkg error /var/cache/apt/archives/exim4-base_4.76-3ubuntu3.2_amd64.deb (--unpack)
It says something about the lack of apport program, last error: reached limit of MaxReports
I updated source.list to the official ones:
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise main restricted
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise main restricted
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates main restricted
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates main restricted
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise multiverse
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise multiverse
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates multiverse
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates multiverse
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu precise partner
deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu precise partner
(before I had my host mirrors set)
I updated using:
apt-get update
And i event removed the archive file:
/var/cache/apt/archives/exim4-base_4.76-3ubuntu3.2_amd64.deb
This is definitely a security feature because if something happens and i
need a security update or to install a new package i'm blocked.
Thank you for your help in advance.
I will be happy to help in any way i can!
