[Bug 1179448] [NEW] 13.04 system freezes on boot and shutdown

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

on bootup, the normal purple screen just sits there with the (kit
nightrider car light cycling).....  System is not completely hung as
ctrl alt del seemd to work.

also, system freezes during use as well.  Then on every 2nd re-boot
after a failure, it works?????  for a while.

the only slightly non-normal thing, is this system boots from a SSD and
has no SWAP...

-thanks for any help - I cant find anything in any logs.
