Yes, the boot partition ran out of space:

Trigger für initramfs-tools werden verarbeitet ...^M
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.8.0-19-generic^M
^M
gzip: stdout: No space left on device^M
E: mkinitramfs failure cpio 141 gzip 1^M
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-3.8.0-19-generic with 1.^M
dpkg: Fehler beim Bearbeiten von initramfs-tools (--configure):^M
Unterprozess installiertes post-installation-Skript gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück^M
Trigger für ca-certificates werden verarbeitet ...^M

And we did make an estimate as to how much space we would need:

2013-05-01 10:02:52,383 DEBUG dir '/boot' needs '32928166' of
'<DistUpgrade.DistUpgradeCache.FreeSpace object at 0x5887510>'
