Title:
Screen corruption/glitch
Status in “gfxboot” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
I notice a "glitch" : when I press the "Enter" key to install Ubuntu, there is
some screen corruption for a second or two. It takes the form of a horizontal
line that span the entire width of the screen, and is situated about halfway in
the vertical sense. It crosses the little "loaoding kernel" dialog/progress bar"
that pops up at the same time. THe line is thin ( a couple pixel thick max), and
is made of many bright colours, looks funky ! ;-)
I booted the CD several times, and it is 100% repeatable, same line, same
position, same funky colours, everytime.
The motherboard chipset is a (first generation) "nForce", and the video card is
an old PCI 2D Matrox Millenium II (2MB of memory).
I don't know how relevant this is, but I thought I would mention that when
"usplash" boots, I always get a flash (a split second really) of funky colours,
just when it has finished loading everything and is in the process of starting
gdm. Maybe the root cause of this problem is the same for both usplash and gfxboot ?
