Title:
Internet connection does not work if the MTU is set too high

Status in “netcfg” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I had real problems getting the Internet to work on a network but have
discovered the cause. The network uses wireless Internet and suggests a high MTU
  - 1458. Pages would resolve the DNS fine but then sit on 'Waiting for ...'
indefinitely. Other applications using the Internet would partially work. I have
lowered the MTU on the router from 1458 to 1300 and all seems to work fine. I
haven't had this problem on any other operating systems or distributions of Linux.
