I have seen it before and since, but it happens not each time and I
haven't paid attention to what exactly was happening in the system, but
I think it happens when update-manager is started by the system, i.e.
not when I start it.

  UpdateManager panel is blank

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I am running two monitors
  I am in the bottom-left of my workspace, working on the left monitor.
  I notice from the quick-launch bar (on the right monitor) that UpdateManager has some updates available.
  I click the icon.
  UpdateManager appears on the right monitor.
  The frame is there, but the inside of the frame is blank.
  I click elsewhere (to be specific: on the terminal window which is on the left screen).
  The inside of the frame of UpdateManager fills with information.

  Note: I realize that the problem might lie elsewhere, but I don't know
  enough about all that.
