[Bug 1141666] [NEW] Reinstalling kubuntu on ssd fails while copying

Public bug reported:

All steps work fine until copying starts. There is a small delay and then it crashes. 
On the destination disk are a few folders;
boot, etc, media, var. 
etc contains fstab and there are two files in /var/cache/apt
