We had this problem in libsignon-glib, we had to work-around it by
adding -lpthread to the list of libraries linked in correct

Bug description:
  configure calls pthread-config to determine what libs to add to
  check.pc, which we don't have in the build depends.  Therefore an
  empty string gets inserted where -lpthread should go.
