Title:
  Installer sits there, does nothing

Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
8.10 beta CD - normal x86_64 install CD

The CD boots, and the text-mode installer runs. After the detecting
network cards stage, the next stage (loading modules?) goes through
its progress bar and seems to complete. The next screen is blank, and
I have a line at the bottom of the screen that appears to do nothing.
If I hit enter, it puts a carriage return there. Either I am impatient
and this is an extremely slow progress bar (unlikely) or it's just
  hanging there.

If I hit "control-C" at that screen, I see the "Detecting Network
Cards" (or whatever that exact text say) come up, but it's hung.

I have 1 hard drive on a sata port right now - a 1.0 TB Seagate
  Barracuda drive.

Hardware: ASUS P5Q Deluxe motherboard - which has Intel P45
northbridge, Intel ICH10R southbridge, an additional Marvell 88SE6121
controller (no drives attached to that on my machine), Marvell 88E8056
  / 88E8001 Gigabit LAN, 1394: LSI L-FW3227

The output of lspci on 8.04 is as follows:

I was expecting the installer to bring up some kind of options and allow me to continue the installation. It sat there and did nothing.
