Title:
"Packages did not provide plugins" error when restarting movie player
  will have all plugins

Status in “gnome-codec-install” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-codec-install

In Lucid Alpha 2, I double clicked a .avi movie that needed codecs.
  Gnome-codec-install correctly downloaded gstreamer-plugins-ffmpeg,
however when it finished I saw the attached error message.

Clicking ok caused the movie to fail to play, however closing totem
and reopening the movie allowed it to play just fine.

I then tried opening another movie file, this time gnome-codec-install
correctly downloaded the -ugly plugins, and gave the same error
messsage. When I clicked ok the movie played, however without sound.
Closing totem and reopening the movie allowed it to play just fine.
