Title:
  Lenovo 3000 N200 DVD-rom missing

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
After installing Ubuntu 7.10 on the laptop which had Vista already installed, there was no DVD/CD-rom in either Ubuntu or in Vista. Tried detecting new hardware in Vista but still could not find the DVD/CD-rom.
The DVD/CD-rom could run a live disc of Linux but there was no DVD/CD-rom hardware in the Ubuntu or Vista partitions.
Lenovo suggested going back to the factory defaults which has restored the DVD/CD-rom in Vista.
How do I maintain the DVD/CD-rom for Ubuntu?
