Title:
update-manager has the size of the columns fixed, should probably not
  be.

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The columns in the update-manager seems to have a fixed size. When i get a list
of packages, and some of the packages have very long names, it is impossible
for me to realy know what package it is. Maximising the windows does not help,
since as said, the column has a fixed size.
I have not looked at the code for it, but sinze it does not let me resize the
columns etc, i guess its a fixed size.

For me, this is not a problem so i set the priority and severity to a low level,
though i can imagine that perhaps some people wants full control of an upgrade
and would be irritaded if they could not
see all of the name of package to be upgraded. If the description is long
enough, since it also has fixed size, then i can imagine situations where its
impossible to know if its a development package that is upgraded or the library
  of, for example.. gtk+.
