  Using Virtual Box 4

  Steps:
  1. Disable network connection (I happened to use a VM,  tried a cable disconnect and no attached nic)
  2. Complete a standard installation (Ubuntu Desktop i386 image)
  3. Click Reboot Now
  ** System should reboot, but it it hangs.  Can still move mouse cursor, but can not click icons on panel.
  After a hard boot, everything boots fine
