Title:
Place Windows Maximised causes faulty rendering in some applications
Status in “git” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Faulty rendering when selecting "Maximize" set for the "Place Windows"
plug in. There are a number of applications affected, some have been
reported individually in launchpad (search maximise) so this appears
to be a systemic problem hence the attribution to compiz but feel free
to refine this.
The problem is that the bottom centimetre or so of the window doesn't
render, losing status information and scroll bars. This usually
occurs, but occasionally it works ok so you may need to try a second
time to reproduce it. Best think is to have something maximised
already so that you can see it where the new window should have been
painted.
One example is Archive Manager, just fire it up to see. Another
example is viewing history in Git GUI.
I'm currently running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on two separate computers with
different hardware, fully updated, both exhibit this problem.
I have also noticed that many applications simply ignore or override
the Maximise setting - but I suspect this is don't to the applications
themselves but thought I'd mention it here in case it's helpful.
