Newer versions of ntfs-3g were implemented in more actual versions of
Ubuntu as per software-upgrade request.

I have marked this bugreport as incompletem since it's historical now.
The regarded version of Ubuntu ise EOL

Thanks for reporting this bug it was taken into account.

Title:
NTFS-Volume not writable after copy operation (bug in ntfs-3g before
  1.5012)

Status in “ntfs-3g” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ntfs-3g

  Source-package: ntfs-3g
  Version: 1:1.2506-1ubuntu2
  Ubuntu-Version: 8.10 (Intrepid)

  What I did:
Copying some 100 files to an NTFS-Partition. Suddenly, copying stopped with the error: "Operation not supported" and showed that error for all files ever after.
  Result: I lost write-access to the NTFS-Partition.
Rebooting, remounting as root and ntfsfix did NOT solve the problem.

  This error is described here:
  http://www.ntfs-3g.org/support.html#filecreate
and was indeed solved by downloading the sources of the newest (stable!) ntfs-3g and compiling them.
Write access was now back after a simple remount.
So I request an update of the ntfs-3g-package in intrepid / hardy.

Please DO NOT report this as a duplicate of Bug #199161, which is
another bug just throwing similar error-messages. This is indeed NOT
fixed in the current version of NTFS-3G included in Ubuntu Intrepid.
