Latest daily builds do not have this problem.    Partitioner starts O.K.
Bug fixed.

Partitioner will not install to the 6th (last) partition see bug
#1100466.  Does install O.K. to first partition.

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Install stuck after selecting "continue" on the window preceding
  partitioner.  Cursor just whirls and whirls 8 minutes now.  Acer
  Aspire 5253 wide screen notebook.  Last successful raring install in
  December.  (still running updated).

  Have not been able to get a successful install since.
