Just terribly sloppy programming.  The whole series from Oneiric up to
to Raring. Even Precise and Lucid cough up at times. maveric .. so far

Status in “usb-creator” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  This is not just with the new package, seen also with the python2.7 version (0.2.40ubuntu1 + Do not use INT_MAX patch) which worked fine a couple of days ago.
  Transfer speeds to usb flash drive(s) thru nautilus are normal, SDC is appearing to take up to 10hrs. to create the disk vs. 3-4 min.'s normally
