Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
  Hi.  This is the same as bug no. 1132352.  They both pertain to ubuntu installer crashing at the signup screen.
  Bug no. 1132352 told of two instances:
  1)  The subject of the bug was in trying to install 12.04 from a cd made from an *.iso.
  2)  It also told of trying to install 12.10 - also from a cd made from an *iso.
  THIS bug now was an attempt to install 12.04 again;  but this time from an Ubuntu User magazine - supplied disc.

  The first and third tries also had their little anomalies:
  In bug no, 1132352, 
  The 1)st one didn't report it to you - it said it wanted to but my copy of the install was not the official one - then it went to desktop screen with an "Install Ubuntu 12.10 icon" on it.  I selected it and the install got to halfway thru "Copying files" before it froze.
  In THIS bug now, the crash was preceded by an install which went almost to the end;  then froze with a "pink screen", with just the usual stuff in the upper right hand corner ONLY.

  I'm going to just try again - then maybe try Lubuntu from the Ubuntu
  User magazine.  If that crashes too, then I may reinstall XP and run a
  memory test program.  Thanks for listening.
