Title:
OpenJDK with OpenGL VM flag causes SIGSEGV

Status in “openjdk-6” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When passing the VM argument "-Dsun.java2d.opengl=true" openjdk fails
with random SIGSEGVs. This is also a problem on openjdk-7. It also
seems to behave differently depending on hardware configuration (on an
ATI card it simply fails when the JVM quits, on nVidia is crashes
randomly with an Error Code 139).

It also happens with and without compressed oops enabled. As a bit of
background the file I am attaching comes from Linux Mint 13 *however*
this problems also exists on Ubuntu 12.04.

Without the flag graphics performance on linux is very poor.
