the attached syslog.snip shows that 299 seconds elapsed before (the
completion of fscks allowed) mounting of sde1 and subsequent launching
of bluetooth, kdm, (and ssh and getty)

Status in “mountall” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  in natty, specifying nobootwait allowed bootup to complete while fscks
  were in progress.  in quantal, nobootwait apparently has lost it's
  purpose.  bootup now waits for fsck, even for mounts specified with
  nobootwait.  even if fs_passno is set higher than 2.  login is
  impossible, even via ssh, until all fscks complete.
