** Description changed:

  I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 with a working Windows 7 installation.

I have a large continuous space available on my local disk but Ubuntu
13.10 installer does not recognise it and thus I don't have the option
to install alongside my windows 7.

+ I would continue with the manual partitioning but as there is no help or clue how to use encryption of home I am unsure what to do.
+ Unfortunately
+
