Title:
  New HFS+ partition not labeled correctly in partition table

Status in “parted” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gparted

  Ubuntu flavor: Karmic
  Main program: gparted (0.4.5-2ubuntu1)
  Additional programs: hfsprogs (332.14-7)

  I made a new partition next to an old (ntfs) one. And formated it to
  hfs+.

  However when checking with fdisk I get the following:

  $ sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb

  Disk /dev/sdb: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes
  255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders
  Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
  Disk identifier: 0x0058d47a

     Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
  /dev/sdb1               1       70285   564564231    7  HPFS/NTFS
  /dev/sdb2   *       70286      121601   412195770   83  Linux

  As you can see the Id of /dev/sdb2 is clearly wrong (should be af).
  Changing it manually with fdisk command 't' to 'af' makes the new partition usable on MAC. So it seems as if the partition is formatted correctly but the partition table isn't altered properly.

  For any additional information feel free to ask.

  Best regards,
  Arno
