I think the problem is with 'Device Notifier' xprop WM_CLASS says:
WM_CLASS(STRING) = "Plasma", "Plasma"
but I don't know which package this comes in.

When a usb menory stick is inserted, one expects the Device Notifier to inform the user of the fact
and offer various options such open witha file manger.

When a usb menory stick is inserted, the kenel detects it:

I have tried this with several memory sticks and they all fail.
