Title:
Software Update tries to install unnecessary alternate dependency

Status in “packagekit” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  0. Install an older version of ubiquity-frontend-gtk
  1. Open Software (gnome-packagekit)
  2. Click the Software appmenu and select Check for Updates
  3. Select ubiquity and ubiquity-frontend-gtk for updating.
  4. Click Install Updates. Software says I need to install about 130 packages because it thinks I need ubiquity-frontend-kde.

What should happen: ubiquity-frontend-gtk satisfies the ubiquity-
frontend-{version} dependency so there's no need to install ubiquity-
  frontend-kde.

My guess is that gnome-packagekit can't handle virtual dependencies
  very well.

  Here's ubiquity's control file
