Public bug reported:

I am attempting to allow a roaming client to manually mount as a user a
samba share. but unfortunately mount.cifs (and mount.smbfs) does not
honor the option in fstab.

/etc/fstab:
//stor.lan/storage	/mnt/stor.lan	cifs	users,noauto,guest,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8	0	0

the users option is supposed to allow manual mounting of filesystems by
the users themselves.

The share in this case is not required to be permanently mounted but on demand (done by the user via a shortcut).
No sudo is not acceptable (at least in our environment)
Yes i am aware of intr and bg options but this is not feasible with our setup.

mount.cifs/mount.smbfs should honor the users option in fstab (or the
handler invoking it should)
