Public bug reported:

Not sure if dbus is correct
After installing a newer version of a shell the next login takes up to 25 - 30 sec's. The continues unless ~/.dbus/session/the file inside is deleted.
Ex.  -
Today unity upgraded to 7.1.0+13.10.20130805-0ubuntu1
The next & subsequent logins take around 25 sec's during which only a black screen & cursor is displayed.
.cache/upstart/gnome-session.log reports this -

stdout:
stderr:
** (process:1688): WARNING **: (../../gi/pygi-marshal-from-py.c:641):_pygi_marshal_from_py_basic_type: runtime check failed: (transfer == GI_TRANSFER_NOTHING)

(process:1688): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: The mapping function given to
g_settings_get_mapped() for key 'favorites' in schema

If the file inside .dbus/dbus-session/ is deleted then logins return to
previous, around 2 sec's or so
