Public bug reported:

Please help me finding the correct package to file this bug against. I
have no idea.

Some programs prevent my desktop environment from shutting down. One i
can name is "RetroShare" a resource hungry F2F application, that needs
about 10 seconds to shut down. Also Boinc seems to have an influence on
how well the shutdown works.

The steps:

1. Boinc and RetroShare are running for hours/days
2. I hit shutdown on my DE (gnome-shell and unity, both behave the same)
3. Nothign happens, the shutdown dialog disappears, system keeps running, a few programs quit
4. Eventually the system will shutdown after waiting a long time like 1-5 minutes
-> i try hitting the shutdown dialog again and again, till the system eventually shuts down
-> this does not work every time i try -> i have to use the console

shutting down via "sudo reboot" or "sudo halt" works everytime and very
fast, cause these commands don't wait for programs to close but force
them.

My wish:

My desktop environment should inform me, which application is blocking
the shutdown. Also it should be able to wait till the application
quitted and then shutdown. Right now my Ubuntu won't shutdown even after
all programs are closed. An additional "force shutdown everytime
(against) this special application" should be available.

It might be possbile, that RetroShare or Boinc are badly coded and
therefore block the shutdown. But a desktop environment (or a shell)
should be able to handle such circumstances.

I will be glad to provide any more information needed.

Thank you for your time
Felix
