Title:
Suspend on LID close does not work
Status in “acpid” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I have a Clevo M540N laptop, running Ubuntu 8.04. Suspend and resume works OK if I do it from the gnome-menu, or press the power-button and then
choose suspend. But if I close the LID, it doesn't work.
Usually, the first time I try to suspend by closing the LID, it works. But the second time, it either doesn't do anything, or crash (kernel crash). I suppose it crashes, since I get a black screen and pressing CapsLock doesn't light up the corresponding screen.
I never use the Fn+F4 button for suspending, but it seems this causes crashing as well...
I'm not sure this is a problem with acpid, or gnome-power-manager, or something else. But when suspending using the lid works, I seem to get different messages regarding the buttons pressed from /var/log/acpid.
Like this:
Nothing happens:
[Sat Jul 12 20:47:24 2008] received event "button/lid LID 00000080 00000001"
Suspending and resuming OK:
[Sat Jul 12 20:49:38 2008] received event "button/lid LID 00000080 00000003"
Crash:
[Sat Jul 12 20:52:50 2008] received event "button/lid LID 00000080 00000001"
I attach as much info I thought useful, but it's hard since I don't understand the whole power management structure.
