Title:
gdebi require gksu as dependency - gksu-polkit much much faster and
  efficient

Status in “gdebi” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
gdebi seems to require gksu - but user may prefer the much faster
  gksu-polkit

gksu hangs the system with unnecessary cpu load while it executes
  inefficient and very old code.

For many users gksu is very very inefficient especially on less
powerful hardware. The new generation gksu-polkit is extremely quick
and efficient and is instant with no delays. Instant even on very old
legacy hardware. (delays can be very irritating with gksu on less
powerful and older machines even if the user was savvy enough to find
newer libraries to support gksu - without these libraries up to 5
  mins. whereas gksu-polkit is instant).

This particular dependency should be modified to allow gksu-polkit to
be used instead. Why force users into using outdated gksu when gksu-
polkit does exactly same thing in a tiny fraction of the time with
  minimal overhead?

  Description:	Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
  Release:	12.04

  gbebi 0.8.5

gdebi takes too long to load caused by gksu hang. User doesn't want to
have to have redundant gksu on system when alternative gksu-polkit
installed. Installing extra libraries significantly reduces x-session
freeze down from 5 minutes if user knows which libraries to get, but
still unnecessary delay compared to what it should be as evidenced by
  contrast with efficient gksu-polkit.

User expected to be able to install and usegdebi without dependency on
gksu. It should check if gksu-polkit is installed instead and ignore
gksu as irrelevant in such case so user can leave gksu removed if user
  prefers.

(I would imagine if users - even those with powerful hardware - would
ditch gksu in favour of gksu-polkit in a flash if they were aware of
its existence and capability... main official repo...)
